Byron Fresh is another cafe right in the heart of Jonson Street. It has a cool double level set up with windows that open onto the street making it a casual spot to pop in on your way down to the water for a drink or a meal. Menu options are all super healthy with free-range, organic and local produce used in every dish. They have a cute little bakery section and if you head around the side of the cafe you will find the infamous Byron “love” seat.
WHAT I ORDERED
– The summer salad: Organic buckwheat, cucumber, watermelon, peas, green beans, shallots, herbs, wild rocket, seeds and a pomegranate emulsion. I took out the watermelon and shallots then added the miso dressing.
– SOL cleanse juice
– Wanted to try every dish on the menu
– Plenty of superfoods
– Very close to the foreshore
– Bakery included
I would avoid all of the sweet breakfast options but the savoury side is clear. 3/16 lunch dishes contain nuts so there is still some great options that don’t need any changes.
With heaps of fruit, garlic and onion on the menu there are only a few options on the menu that would be fructose free without making changes to the dish
Staff were extremely thorough, suggesting not to order anything fried from the menu incase there is cross contamination. They asked if I had my epipen, checked if i could have seeds and informed me that the brioche buns are from the same supplier as the almond croissants.
I made a few changes to my meal and they adapted well to my requirements
Food was delicious and for the non fodmappers, my boyfriend got the pulled pork roll and said it was the best he’s ever had!
